• How many years have you been in business?

• Do you have a list of references that I can contact?

• Do you have a proven track record?

• How many homes have you built? Renovated?

• What is your communication style (frequency, response time)?

• Who will manage the project and what is the process?

• Do you utilize available software to track your project schedule, budget, documents, and communication?

• What controls do you have in place to keep projects on time and on budget?

• What are the types of contracts offered and terms?

• Will the Builder file all permits, be responsible for inspections, and all subcontractors and material suppliers?

• What licenses and insurance do you have and what is the insurance verification process for subcontractors?

Tip: It can also be helpful to consult family and friends who have been through the process and even schedule to visit a project or two with the Builder in order to see a project in action.
